Why Being an Woman sucks in South Korea.

In South Korea, people believe that men are superior than women based on Confucian ideas. Here are some facts to prove that Korea is very sexist and is a culture in which women are segregated from men.

1. Gender wage gap

Korea has the biggest gender wage gap according to OECD in 34 countries. The wage gap is 36.6%.

3. Maternity leaves

This graph from OECD website shows that Korea is turned over in maternity leave in 32 countries. According to OECD, the average maternity leave in Korea is 12.86 weeks which is very short period to recover.

4. Korea violent crimes and female victims

According to Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of Korea, the gap of gender in violent crimes are very high. The black indicates the number of violent crimes caused in each year and red indicated the number of women victims.

5. Glass celling in Korea

The definition of glass celling is an unacknowledged barrier to advancement in a profession, especially affecting women and members of minorities (from Google Dictionary). Visit Wikipedia for more information. According to The Economist, Korea has the worst working condition for working women.
